CARVING AND LETTER CUTTING

CARVING

When undertaking replacement carving work it is important to ensure that the shape and design of the original carving is fully understood so that it can be replicated accurately in order to preserve the historic integrity of the structure.

Once the stone has been selected and the design understood, we are able to accurately replicate historic stone features in a variety of limestones, sandstones or magnesian limestones, by using traditional masonry techniques, allied to modern methods where appropriate.

LETTERING

Letters can be cut into a wide variety of natural stones to produce architectural inscriptions, plaques, memorials or any other decorative use.

Whilst we prefer to produce our lettering using the traditional method of a chisels and a dummy (a small hammer) we fully understand the financial implication in such matters, and therefore, we are also able to machine-cut and sandblast inscriptions in order to keep costs to a minimum.

The letters themselves can be supplied in their clean cut raw state, painted or gilded in 24 carat gold leaf.
